TITLE Fountains Abbey (Study)

Acrylic, ink, collage
40cm x 27cm

Part of the ‘In The Footsteps Of Turner’ series, Fountains Abbey is a World Heritage site within easy walking distance of my studio. I have painted it many times, the last time being a canvas seven feet wide by five high.

Turner produced several drawings of the abbey when he visited in 1797. He returned in 1816 when making illustrations for the General History of the County of York.
