TITLE Lapwing Call Over The Calder Valley

A painting from my recent visit to the Calder Valley; the area was a bit of a revelation to me. Steep sided valleys, dry stone walls, derelict and semi-derelict buildings echoing the industrial revolution: a very different feel to the more northerly dales where the industry is from a more distant past or at least its physical evidence is less evident. The cottages and road here were catching the early spring light and the fields impossibly green. I liked it a lot.
