Commission

I’m just back from a delightful trip to St Mawes in Cornwall where I have been working on a commission. I stayed at the Idle Rocks hotel (highly recommended) which looks straight out over the harbour to the sea and this was the obvious view to paint. Henry VIII built huge gun emplacements on the headlands flanking Falmouth harbour and they give focal points to the view from St Mawes. I worked in the studio from drawings and colour sketches made on location. The finished work is oil on canvas and measures 36″ x 32″.
