Wild Boar Fell sits high up in the Pennine watershed near the little Yorkshire Dales market town of Kirkby Stephen. In this remote and beautiful region, many of the rivers that flow through the dales originate: the river Ure, the Swale and further North, the Tees and the Tyne. The weather changes fast up here and can hit hard.Photographs can be useful when making paintings but there’s no substitute for being out in the landscape painting plein air or as in this case, making sketches to bring back into the studio. Here David is working very fast with watercolour and pencil to gather as much visual information as he can, but also soaking up the atmosphere that is specific to this place.

After and original oil painting by David Stead, this beautiful limited edition print is on deep profile, archival quality canvas. The print is limited to an edition of only 150 and comes with a certificate of authentication.
